SCULPTURAL INTRODUCTION

Many of my sculptures are toys — made for adults. The purpose is play. Even if you’re mostly a gem or art collector, and wish to simply possess, I hope you make an effort to play. Force yourself. Come on. Be interactive. Truthfully, some of these toys become stiff and hardened from long or excessive dormancy. So rather than the static representations that many sculptors demand to reflect the view from the artist’s mind’s eye, I’ve created these toys to amuse you. We, you and I, collaborate. Extend my imagination into your own particular and even most peculiar of directions. I your humble enabler give permission.

Please:
Create scenarios and configurations that tickle you;

Turn the pieces different directions upside down, backwards, stand them on different ends;

Understand I’ve selected the materials not only for beauty but reasonable toughness too.

You will also find that pieces fit into the whole in different ways and that it is unnecessary to use every piece and part in every scenario. You may even tell stories of your own invention with the scenarios our imaginations of the stones suggest for you. So I ask only three things of you who possess.

Please:
be gentle with them;

be imaginative with them;

don’t lose pieces of them.

With that in mind. These toys are carved in stone. Given reasonable use they ought to last multiple generations. I created them to enter a distant set of futures.

A couple of words of caution. Although these are tough materials and I’ve not incorporated parts that could easily be broken, they still are not indestructible. When you play with them, to preserve them be sure there is carpet on the floor beneath. Tiles or stone floors are dangerous. So too could be wood. Also for best results in playing comfortably, use a level table which you are not afraid to scratch.
